Spring Cleaning 2024

Spring is just around the corner, yet again it is almost that time of the year when we smell the flowers, feel the warmth of the sun and look forward to that well-deserved summer holiday.

We know that it can be a slightly overwhelming task when it comes to spring cleaning your tiles but we are here to help guide you for your spring clean this season. There is nothing healthier and more satisfying than knowing your tiles are as clean and as shiny as the first day you had them laid.

The first step – Plan and outline your priorities

...

Where do you want to start and progress from?

It is always a good idea to start from the least visited part of your home, which will generally be the bedrooms as most of us tend to only go to our bedrooms for our good night's beauty sleep J

So starting from the bedrooms will ensure that once your tiles are deep cleaned they have sufficient time to fully dry until you revisit the area for your beauty sleep.

If you have a property with multiple stories, then it is best to start from the top floor and work your way down. This will ensure you can limit excess to these areas whilst your beautifully cleaned tiles are given time to fully dry.

We would then recommend cleaning the living areas on the lower level, eventually working your way to the kitchen/dining area. Once finished, take time out for several hours and go out for a cup of coffee or a nice walk.

Knowing your tiles is key when deep cleaning, this is because some products can harm and cause defects in the natural stone whereas others are perfectly fine. There are a few products specially designed to use on natural stone tiles, these will be the most suitable products to use for deep cleaning your natural stone tiles. If you only have household products available to you for the time being, then we recommend lukewarm water with a tiny amount of washing-up liquid, once cleaned then a quick rinse and dry should do the job just fine. Always remember to re-seal any natural stone after deep cleaning, using our LTP MPG Polished Tile Sealer for polished finish natural stone tiles and our LTP Mattstone Impregnating Tile Sealer for any honed or matt finish natural stone tiles, which will help protect them until your next deep cleaning session.

Lukewarm water and washing up liquid method is also a perfect option to clean any manmade porcelain and ceramic tiles. Man-made materials do not necessarily require a specially formulated product for cleaning or a sealing process to protect them.

...

What is required?

As mentioned above, we recommend a specially formulated cleaning solution like our LTP Grimex Multi-purpose Intensive Cleaner for deep cleaning all types of natural stone.
