Q :Can these tiles, 300 x 300 x 10, be Brazilian Black Slate Tile with a riven surface? Can they be used for exterior stairs in front of the house? Also, can epoxy grouting be used with these tiles?

A :Brazilian slate is naturally riven; the term "riven surface" is the same thing, it just means the surface has a natural texture. It is suitable for the exterior use you're enquiring about, making it often a popular choice. Unfortunately we do not supply epoxy grout and are unable to advise on this. We would recommend checking with your installer to make sure it's appropriate for slate and external steps.

Q :Does sealing the slate change the colour of the tile at all?

A :Good afternoon, thank you for your enquiry. Sealing natural stones with LTP mattsone or LTP MPG polished sealers doesn't affect the colour in the slightest. Once they dry, tiles will be returned back to their original colour. Sealers are purely to protect the tiles however, there are other products out there that may achieve this.

A :Hello, Thank you for your question. This is a natural product and can be scratched by animal claws and dragging furniture etc, the sealer is a barrier to protect the tiles from staining. We hope this was helpful.
